Granada: Disabled Needs
A City in the Southern province of Andalucia
Granada is better equipped for disabled travellers than you may think. Many varieties of accommodation, ranging from hotels to campgrounds, are very well equipped for disabled travellers. Most of Granada city is flat however some of the main tourist sites are located on hills. The Alhambra is located at the top of a steep hill. Once inside, there are large parts of the Alhambra which are wheelchair accessible although there are certain older parts with stairs which can’t be reached by wheelchair at all. The historic neighbourhoods of the Albayzin and Sacromonte are hilly so if getting around easily is a problem for you, you’ll need to do some prior planning for exploring these areas. These areas and the Alhambra can be reached by wheelchair accessible public buses. Some of the city centre streets are pedestrianised which makes certain parts of the city easy and pleasant to explore. There are companies in Andalucia that specialise in organising disabled holidays in Granada and the surrounding area.
