A City in the Southern province of Andalucia
If partying is on your agenda, Granada’s nightlife is well worth investigating. A huge student population means the nightlife in Granada is lively, varied and plentiful. Whether it’s flamenco, live rock and jazz, or clubbing that gets you fired up, there’s plenty to keep you up for hours in Granada. For flamenco, try to avoid the dubious shows that are purely designed to pull in the tourist dollar. Places with good reputations for Flamenco shows in Granada include Los Tarantos. Situated in an atmospheric cave in Sacromonte, Los Tarantos is an elaborate tourist affair but it’s a lot of fun and worth checking out. The place to seek out if you want to find some genuine Granada flamenco is Pena de La Plateria. This is a flamenco aficionados club in the Albayzin which attracts fewer tourists. For drinks in the centre of Granada, hit the lively bars down Calle de Ellvira. For more chilled out Granada bars, head for the Rio Darro at the base of the Albayzin. If you want to party in Granada until sunrise, head for the clubs around Plaza Nueva. To find out what’s happening in Granada, pick up a copy of the city’s entertainment guide: Guia de Granada. The bars can be noticeably quieter when the students are on holiday.
