Hong Kong: Hiking Activity Holiday
The Pearl of the Orient
Hong Kong's unique location means it has some excellent hiking and walking trails and walking is one of the best ways to get around Hong Kong (from a sight-seeing point of view) except of course in the typhoon season. When in Hong Kong the best and most efficient way to see things is to bring a street/subway map and to plan your itinerary. You can however, simply wander around Victoria Harbour and enjoy the views. You can even walk all the way to the top of Victoria Peak. If you plan to hike some of Hong Kong's country parks, the Dragon's Back is a must. Hike along the mountain ridge overlooking the South China Sea, reservoirs and natural unspoilt beaches. In the New Territories there are four major trails: MacLehose Trail, Wilson Trail, Hong Kong Trail and Lantau Trail. The Hong Kong Trail is the most gentle. There are few better places to hike in an urban setting than Hong Kong. Remember to bring plenty of water.
