Eivessa in Spanish
Ibiza is a truly magical place of freedom and expression, where people flock to let their hair down and escape from the everyday. It is undoubtedly the most popular of the Balearics and has a hypnotic quality which is why visitors come back year after year. The holiday months are May to September, when the party capital, San Antonio, really gets going and is host to world-famous clubs like Es Paradis and Eden.
A tempting place in which to unwind with a cool drink is Café Del Mar, which is built on the bay of Calo Des Moro and is where people go to take in the island’s stunning red and gold sunsets, the theme for many art works painted or photographed by local artists. There is another side to this beautiful island though; Ibiza isn’t just famous for producing its ‘chill-out’ music albums, but is also renowned for its ‘hippy markets’, selling a charming selection of locally made crafts, such as leather goods and jewellery. Perfect for a gift to take home to loved ones. Ibiza is a place of historical interest too and a day taking in the scenes of Ibiza Town couldn’t be better spent. Just make sure you wear flat shoes as the cobbled streets are steep as you make your way up the high slope to the entrance of the town and over the dramatic drawbridge which is surrounded by impressive statues. Ibiza is a place of many sights, sounds and welcome surprises and for those who enjoy a varied lifestyle, of excitement, escape and tranquillity; you will fit right in.
