Italy: Scuba Diving

Way more than just good spaghetti bolognese.

There are some great opportunities for scuba diving in Italy, although it isn’t considered one of the top destinations by fans of the sport. Conditions for scuba diving in Italy are excellent, with visibility averaging around 30 metres (100 feet) at the most popular diving centres. Most scuba diving centres in Italy only open from April to October. The high number of naval battles in the Mediterranean sea during World War Two mean that there are a high number of wrecks around the Italian coast, and wreck diving in Italy has a small but dedicated following – particularly around the coast of Puglia.
