Mountains, deserts, colourful tribal culture, beaches, coral reefs and wildlife
There is an excellent choice of souvenirs to choose from in Kenya. Nairobi and Mombasa are the main centres for shopping but it is also possible to find many of the crafts in the areas where they are made. Always expect to bargain for your choice, as this is a way of life in Kenya. The most popular local crafts include the sisal baskets which come in various sizes and colours, colourful kangas and kikois (local sarongs) especially used on the coast, the striking beaded Maasai jewellery, soapstone from Lake Victoria, tribal souvenirs such as spears and leather shields, and most popular of all the famous animal woodcarvings.
