For those seeking adventure, there are some excellent organised white water rafting trips, the best times being from late October to mid-January and from early April to late July, when water levels are highest. From their base in Nairobi, Savage Wilderness Safaris offer one to four day trips covering 80km or 3 week trips covering 450km can be arranged. The most popular short trips are on the Tana River, north of Nairobi, and longer trips are available on the Athi River south of Nairobi and the Ewaso Ngiro River in the romote north east region.
