Kenya: Suggested Itinerary
Mountains, deserts, colourful tribal culture, beaches, coral reefs and wildlife
Day 1: Take some time to settle in, after what is sure to be a long flight and begin exploring on Day 2.
Day 2: Depart for the whole day birding at the Nairobi National Park where you can have lunch as a picnic in the park. Return to your hotel in the early evening for dinner.
Day 3: Head towards the Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru via a couple of local birding hotspots including Limuru ponds. Then stop at Lake Naivasha for some morning birding around the beautiful gardens of Lake Naivasha Country Club as well as taking a boat ride on the lake.
Day 4: Depart for Kakamega Forest. Have a couple of birding stopovers along the way, as well as enjoying the magnificent views of the Kericho Tea Estates. Time allowing, have a brief stopover at Kisumu-Lake Victoria papyrus swamps. Later proceed on to Kakamega Forest arriving at Rondo Retreat Centre in the evening.
Day 5: After breakfast, depart for Lake Baringo to explore the spectacular Kerio Valley in search of rare species like Gambaga Flycatcher amongst others. Arrive at Lake Baringo, one of the Kenya's top birding hotspots.
Day 6: In the morning, take a very short drive to enjoy the breath-taking views of the nearby basalt cliffs. After lunch drive to the nearby Lake Bogoria National Reserve for an evening game drive, as well as a visit to the Hot springs and Geysers.
Day 7: Drive to the Kinagop grasslands, before proceeding onto Mt. Kenya via Thompson Falls where you can stop for lunch. Your next stop will be at an abandoned quarry and then arrive at Naro Moru River Lodge by mid afternoon and spend the rest of the day doing extensive walks around the lodge's beautiful grounds, which includes a small forest and seasonal river.
Day 8: You can catch a flight home from Nairobi.
