Kuala Lumpur: When to go
Easier to negotiate than Bangkok, less cosmopolitan than Singapore and more eclectic than Hanoi
The tropical climate in Kuala Lumpur makes it conducive to visit any time of the year. A main consideration when deciding to go to Kuala Lumpur however should be whether it’s the school holidays or the rainy season. The city becomes busier during the national school holidays which occur in June and December. Local festivities in Kuala Lumpur celebrated by the different ethnic groups would also mean that the city will be crowded during those times. Check out the dates of these festivities before you make your travel plans as some do change each year. The climate in Kuala Lumpur is also dominated by the effect of the monsoon season. This happens between October and January and again from March to May. Though heavier rainfall is expected during these times, it is usually short and intense and should not spoil your visit. The infrastructure within the city also makes it easy for visitors to take refuge and engage indoor activities.
