Madeira: When to go
Scenic mountainous landscapes, stunning wildlife and fabulous food
With its mild climate, Madeira is worth a visit pretty much all year round. If you plan to do a lot of walking when on holiday in Madeira, it’s worth bearing in mind that late September/October and March/April are the wettest months in Madeira. If you want to see the spring flowers in bloom then May is the month for a holiday in Madeira. And when choosing when to go to Madeira, remember that in June the coastal areas tend to be cloudy. However, this is the same month you can enjoy a fine view over the clouds from the mountaintops of Madeira. Sun-seekers will choose to go to Madeira in the hottest months of July, August and September, while if you fancy a warm Christmas and spectacular New Year, Funchal, Madeira’s capital city, offers fantastic Christmas lights and spectacular fireworks in the harbour for a Christmas holiday to remember in Madeira.
