Maldives: Food Guide - Dining Out
The Indian Ocean's idyllic paradise
Dining out in the Maldives is restricted to your resort island. Most resorts will have one main restaurant linked to the hotel offering a wide variety of food, mainly local cuisine and of course lots of seafood.
Some resorts in the Maldives offer a couple of restaurants and a few 5 star resorts offer up to seven restaurants which cater for different tastes, such as Middle Eastern, Indian and Lebanese food. Local Madivian food is hot and spicy, and will usually include fish. Local fruits such as bananas, mangos and papaya are also in abundance. As the Maldives is an Islamic country, alcohol and pork are prohibited and can only be consumed by tourists within the holiday resort islands.
