A bustling city with a laid-back, casual nature
Manila’s nightlife is mainly centered in Malate and Makati City, Malate being the more bohemian and less expensive choice, while the Greenbelt area of Makati is more top end. Malate is the center for nightlife and local student culture in Manila and full of bars, restaurants and nightclubs, straight, gay and mixed. Bar hopping is a popular pastime and drinks are generally inexpensive in Manila. Nightlife includes dance clubs, hip-hop, rock and live music, and a variety of bars and pubs for bar hopping. Sleazy “girlie bars” are also a feature in parts of Malate, Ermita and Makati Ave, so make sure you know exactly what kind of bar you are entering before deciding to go in.
