New Zealand: Disabled Needs
Land of the Long White Cloud
Wheelchair users in New Zealand are well catered for, and all new buildings in the country are legally required to provide reasonable access for people with disabilities. Throughout New Zealand, disabled travellers should find little difficulty accessing most hotels, restaurants, museums, shopping centres and so on, but you should always check ahead just in case. Guide dogs are welcome everywhere. However, disabled visitors will normally need assistance when using public transport. Outside the main cities, facilities for disabled travellers in New Zealand may be less common, especially in cheaper hotels or hostels.
