New Zealand: Geography
Land of the Long White Cloud
New Zealand is an island nation in the South Pacific made up of North Island, home to the capital, Wellington, and largest city, Auckland, and the more rural South Island.
New Zealand has a remarkably diverse landscape, from rolling green hills, tussock grasslands and Alpine uplands to dramatic fjords, long sandy beaches, rainforests, volcanoes, bubbling mud pools and glaciers. Large tracts of the country remain sparsely inhabited.
