New Zealand: When to go
Land of the Long White Cloud
The southern hemisphere summer and autumn, from around September to April, is the best time to go to New Zealand. The weather during these months is generally warm and pleasant, but can be very changeable at any time of year, especially in South Island. For those interested in winter sports, the period from June to August is the time to go, but note that outside the ski and winter sports resorts, hotels and restaurants may cut back staff and services during the winter. The eastern coasts of both islands tend to be drier and warmer throughout the year.
