Nice: Hiking - Walking
Walking is the best way to get around Nice (from a sight-seeing point of view) even in winter. Bring a street map to plan your itinerary or simply wander down the Promenade des Anglais, or stroll around the Old Town taking in charming shops and lively squares. Nice also offers an organized walking tour (duration 2 hours) that departs every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:30 am. The tour gives a history of Nice as well as explaining the cities' customs and traditions. Cost 13€.
If you plan to hike in Nice try one of Provence's hiking trails, and hike the Grande Randonnee (GR5) which will take you far from the crowds and give you the opportunity to discover a region that is filled with olives, wine vineyards, lavender, apricots and thousands of years of history. Be sure to wear good walking shoes, bring sunscreen and a hat, water bottles and insect repellent.
