Owning to its location and deep fishing traditions, you'll find a host of restaurants specialising in cooking freshly caught fish straight out of the Atlantic whilst dining out in Portugal.
From shellfish to tuna, swordfish and the national favourite, for which there are over 1000 recipes, cod. Portuguese cuisine is simple with emphasis on fish, pork, chicken, rice, potatoes, cabbage, olive oil and tomatoes but infused with a delicate blend of spices that ensure every dish is flavoursome and filling. No trip to Portugal would be complete without sampling some of Portugal's excellent wine. The two most famous wines are Port and Madeira wine, are fortified wines produced respectively in their area, though there are plenty of other wines produced all over Portugal.
