Portugal Surfing

With much of Portugal's coastline exposed to the Atlantic to the west, Portugal is a great place for a surfing holiday. On just about part of the coastline you are sure to find decent surfing conditions. While some of the world's top professionals head for the islands of Madeira and the Azores, where the standard waves height is about 6ft, though can reach as much as 15ft in winter months, mainland Portugal still has lots to offer surfers of every level. Algarve region probably holds the best spots in places like Lagos, Carrapateira and Sagres delivering waves suitable for both beginners and intermediate surfers.
