Shopping in Puerto Rico revolves around the malls, local markets, outlet shops and galleries. There is no sales tax on products, attracting people from all over the world to shop here. Puerto Rico is famous for its antiques, arts and crafts, and jewelry and leather goods. The Condado area is famous for its exclusive designer stores. You’ll find mini malls with famous brand stores along Ashford Avenue. Puerto Rico has the largest shopping mall in the Caribbean at Plaza Las Americas, in the San Juan metro area. It has more than 200 stores, including dozens of smaller stores for clothing, gifts, electronics, cosmetics and more. Most Puerto Rican shops and craft markets normally target tourists by selling souvenirs, gifts and pottery. However you will also find markets that provide for local inhabitants around the island, with local farmers and bakers and tradesmen selling their wares.
