Puerto Rico: Whale Watching
Gatekeeper of the Caribbean Sea
Whale watching in Puerto Rico generally takes place from late January to March when the migration of the Atlantic humpback whales takes place through the Mona Passage. The island of Rincon is the best place to view the whales, and can even be seen from the shores of the beaches itself. The lighthouse of Rincon, El Faro, is located on a cliff from where viewers can watch the passage of the whales, with one of the best whale watching views in the world. Hotels in and around the area organize whale watching trips for guests from the shore as well as in the waters.
