South Africa: Abseiling
A World in One Country
Abseiling in South Africa
South Africa offers 3000 kilometres of coastline along with breathtaking mountains - often side by side. The country's diverse terrain, together with an ideal climate for outdoor activities, make it a rich hunting ground for adrenaline seekers. If you’re not afraid of heights and you have a craving for adventure, then abseiling in South Africa is great.
You can abseil down buildings in Durban and Johannesburg while Table Mountain in Cape Town boasts the highest commercial abseil in the world. Further up the Cape east coast, there are three abseil routes on the impressive western head at Knysna. You can also do a combination abseiling and kloofing trip down the Storms River Gorge, which involves a 100m abseil into the gorge, a tubing trip down the river, a short walk out of the gorge and then a cycle back to the village.
