Sweden: Hiking - Walking
More than just flatpack furniture!
When you can boast hiking landscapes that are famed throughout the world, you know you’re on to a winner. Hiking and trekking in Sweden is a popular pastime with people coming from far and wide to hike and trek through the high coastal areas of Abisko, Bergslagen, Gotland island and Sarek. A few, like Sarek National Park offer little in the way of amenites, but the rest are renown for their well-equipped, clean and friendly hostels and huts. Although hiking and trekking is available all year round in Sweden, you may want to make a special trip to the Laponia World Heritage site, home of the indigenous Sami population. There are over 400 hike trails across Sweden, some offering themes, like Dalsland’s Pilgrim trail or Utvandrarleden’s Emigrant trail.
