Switzerland: Sightseeing

A summer and winter sports paradise

Switzerland Sightseeing

The real sights in Switzerland are the ones created by nature – the Jungfrau, the Matterhorn, and the lakes. But there are plenty of idyllic villages, picturesque old towns and magnificent churches and cathedrals to take in too during your holiday in Switzerland.

James Bond fans will want to visit the Piz Glora revolving restaurant, which sits on top of the Schilthorn mountain and appeared in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Nearby is the Jungfrau – a trip to the top on the railway takes you to Switzerland’s highest point, and here you can admire the view, or check out the indoor ice palace.

The Wengen-Murren is where you go to see waterfalls in Switzerland, you can even see waterfalls inside the mountain. The longest glacier in the alps is the Aletsch glacier, then there are the tropical alps of the Ticino region in Switzerland, near Italy, where you’ll see palm trees growing.

For lovers of buildings a visit to the Grossmunster in Zurich is a must, and if you’re in Geneva, check out the Palace of Nations, home to the UNO. And while in Switzerland don’t miss the chance to take at least one scenic rail trip from the many on offer!
