Tahiti: Suggested Itinerary
Waterfall-laden, shadowy mountains, river valleys and black sand beaches
Day 1: Fly in and get settled into your accommodation first and foremost. Start by discovering the Real Papeete and a walking tour of Old Papeete. Take a stroll through the shopping area of Le Marché and take a visit to the Pearl Museum. Enjoy an authentic dinner at the roulottes in the waterfront area of Vai'ete Square.
Day 2: Get up early and into your hired vechicle to circle the island by bus or car. Take a picnic on a black-sand beach and if you’re feeling real adventurous, explore the high waterfalls by helicopter. Take a safari by 4X4 deep into the valleys and if possible try and find a guide to hike with and educate you about the Aorai Mountain.
Day 3: Take a day-trip to Moorea. Take a fast catamaran from Tahiti to Moorea and jump in a 4x4 to explore the interior. Here you can also visit a fruit tasting factory or shop for crafts made in Moorea. For tea, return to dine at one of the locals' favorites around Papeete.
Day 4: Today is the day you get to know the aquatic life of the island. Snorkel in the clear waters around the resorts or in Matavai Bay and hire a dive master to learn to dive or to explore the sunken vessels and coral walls. If you’d rather not get wet, you can also canoe or kayak in the lagoon, fish the deep sea for marlin, charter a sailing catamaran or go windsurfing, waterskiing or jetskiing – it’s up to you.
Day 5: Make your way home from Tahiti.
