Tanzanian cuisine is, like the population, a mix combining Arab, Indian, European and local features, the essential ingredients of which are beef and ugali. Ugali is a boiled cornmeal mush, used as a base for meat stew or as a side dish. Nyama Choma, or grilled meat, usually beef is slow cooked for 45 minutes and can be dipped into your ugali served with grilled plantains.

Tanzanian accommodation caters to guests and tourists providing a mix of western cuisine with some local foods. Breakfasts usually consists of a lot of fruits, eggs, and potatoes. In the cities and towns typically expect Indian food.
