Geographical Location of Vancouver

Vancouver is the westernmost of Canada’s 10 provinces and three territories, located in the Lower Mainland of the southwestern region of British Columbia, Canada. In terms of workd geography, Vancouver’s location can best be described as lying almost exactly halfway between Europe and the Asia Pacific region.


Land/Sea Boundaries of Vancouver

The city of Vancouver is bordered by water on three sides and land on the fourth: the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Fraser River to the south, and the Burrard Inlet to the north, with the city of Burnaby providing an eastern land border.

Languages of Vancouver

English is the main language spoken in Vancouver, with the majority of the population speaking fluent English either as a first or second language. However, the federal government provides French language services also. After English and Chinese, the most common languages are Punjabi, German, Italian, French, Tagalog (Filipino) Japanese and Spanish.

Currency in Vancouver

Vancouver’s currency is the Canadian dollar. However, US dollars and Japanese yen are also often accepted, although it’s often wiser to pay in Canadian dollars depending on the exchange rate.
