A multicultural metropolis with snowcapped crags, city-hugging beaches and waterfront forests
Vancouver city is home to over half a million residents, with the wider Metro Vancouver area comprising a population of just over two million. Of these residents, 52% of city dwellers and 43% of Metro Vancouver citizens have a first language other than English. After English and Chinese, the most common languages are Punjabi, German, Italian, French, Tagalog (Filipino) Japanese and Spanish. Vancouver also constitutes the largest native community in the province, with a sizeable aboriginal community in the city and surrounding municipalities.
