Vancouver: When to go

A multicultural metropolis with snowcapped crags, city-hugging beaches and waterfront forests

Vancouver When to go

Vancouver is renowned for its mild climate, so the only real question is what you want to do when you get there as this might dictate when you visit. Summer is the most popular time to go, as there’s such a good range of outdoor activities available. As well as the lure of the beaches and hiking trails, there are also a lot of outdoor festivals in Vancouver in the summer.

These include the annual HSBC Celebration of Light fireworks show at English Bay and Festival Vancouver, which celebrates music with more than 50 classical, jazz, and world concerts in August.

September to April is low season, although Autumn is still a good time to visit: mild but with beautiful leaf changes. Winter months are good for ski enthusiasts as although snow rarely falls heavily within the city, the nearby ski slopes on Grouse Mountain see frequent snow. Spring brings good weather for both skiing and golfing - it’s a proud Vancouver both that it’s possible to do both in the same day during the spring. Really, November to January is considered the least seasonable time to visit as it can be rather rainy.
